As the temperature drops, Southend-on-Sea Borough Council have once again teamed up with the Local Energy Advice Partnership (LEAP) to help residents save money and keep warm this winter.
The partnership is a Warm Homes Discount Initiative project, which offers a free energy and money advice service to people most in need of support. Help can be provided through offering tariff switches, checking benefits and supporting applications to possible funding for emergency boiler replacement (ECHO) and the Priority Services Register. Residents will also receive small energy saving products, such as LED bulbs and radiator reflectors.
The council has participated in the LEAP programme for the past three years and has helped vulnerable residents make savings or find new income of £640,140.76 in the past scheme year alone.
Households are eligible for LEAP if any of the following apply:
· They have a low income
· They receive tax credits
· They receive Housing Benefit
· They receive an income or disability related benefit
· A member of the household has a long-term illness or disability.
To find out if you can benefit from LEAP, please visit the LEAP website www.applyforleap.org.uk or call 0800 0607567 (freephone).
